At its Wiesbaden plant, Merck manufactures various products for use in complex lithography processes. Strict requirements for purity must be met, and environmental impacts on the products must be considered. To meet these requirements and quality standards, Merck uses double-walled IBCs made of ultra-pure plastic. For some products, in addition to ensuring that containers are undamaged and clean, a comprehensive temperature documentation is also necessary.
For Merck, it is crucial that the products reach the customers efficiently and according to demand. However, it is often challenging to have a clear overview of the current inventory of containers at the customer’s site. Before collaborating with Packwise, the planning of production, deliveries, and collections was based on historical data and assumptions.
By collecting valuable and comprehensive data, as well as mapping and evaluating it, Merck Performance is now able to track the stock levels, usage, and locations of its containers. This has revealed significant optimization potentials.
